American Heart Association

Vital Institute offers American Heart Association (AHA) certification courses designed to prepare healthcare professionals and clinical staff to respond confidently in life-threatening emergencies. Our training follows current AHA guidelines and emphasizes high-performance CPR, proper AED use, effective team dynamics, and precision under pressure.

We provide both traditional instructor-led BLS Provider courses and blended learning options through HeartCode® BLS. All certifications are issued directly through the American Heart Association and are valid for two years.

Our approach combines technical excellence with calm, structured instruction to ensure every participant leaves competent, compliant, and confident.

BLS Provider Course

Instructor-Led

The American Heart Association BLS Provider course is a classroom-based training designed for healthcare professionals who require certification in high-quality CPR, AED use, and team-based resuscitation.

This instructor-led course provides hands-on training and real-time coaching in:

• Adult, child, and infant high-quality CPR
• Proper AED operation and safety
• Effective ventilations using barrier devices and bag-mask devices
• Two-rescuer and team response dynamics
• Relief of choking in responsive and unresponsive victims

Participants engage in structured practice scenarios using professional training equipment to reinforce precision, speed, and proper technique according to current AHA guidelines. Emphasis is placed on coordinated team response, rapid assessment, and maintaining composure in high-stress situations.

Upon successful completion of the skills testing and written examination, participants receive a 2-year American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard.

HeartCode® BLS – Blended Learning

Online + Skills Session

HeartCode® BLS is the American Heart Association’s blended learning option that combines self-paced online instruction with an in-person skills session.

After registration and payment, Vital Institute will purchase and assign your official HeartCode® BLS online access key and provide instructions to begin the course. Participants complete the online portion independently, which includes interactive modules covering:

• High-performance CPR
• AED use
• Team-based response
• Critical decision-making in emergency situations

Once the online portion is successfully completed, participants attend a scheduled in-person skills session with Vital Institute to demonstrate competency in adult, child, and infant CPR, ventilations, AED use, and team response according to AHA standards.

The in-person session is a structured, hands-on verification of skills. It is not a lecture-based class.

Upon successful completion of both components, participants receive a 2-year American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard.
